When will Vivo release Android 15?

Android 15 is still a work in progress, but we are getting much closer to the stable version as the fourth beta recently went live. This is the last planned beta for Google Pixels, but Google may still release .x patches.

Google hasn’t announced an official release date for Android 15, but it’s expected to debut alongside the Pixel 9 series at its Made by Google event next month. These latest Pixels will be the first phones to ship with the latest operating system.

After the release of a stable build, smartphone manufacturers start developing their custom skins (for example Funtouch OS) to work with the new operating system. It usually takes a few weeks and then the brand starts distributing the stable build.

Last year, Android 14 was released in October and Vivo started rolling it out to its respective devices in the same month. This year, we could see it roll out as early as next month or in the worst-case scenario, in October.

The stable release of Android 15 is still a few weeks away, but it is ready for testing on some devices through the beta testing program. It is currently only available for the Vivo X100 and iQOO 12, but it is expected to gradually roll out to more devices in the coming weeks.

What to expect from Android 15?

1. Anti-theft lock

A helpful recent update to the Find My Device network allowed users to find their lost Android devices using a crowdsourced network of over a billion Android devices. The feature is available on older Android devices, but Android 15’s new features should make thieves think twice before stealing your phone.

The new operating system has an anti-theft lock feature that automatically locks the device if someone steals your phone and runs away. The device automatically detects unusual movements and locks the device when it detects suspicious movements or actions.

If a thief manages to get your phone and factory reset it, they will need the same Google account to set up the device, otherwise it won’t work.

2. Private area

Private Space is another useful addition to Android 15 that allows users to keep their top-secret apps or files under an extra layer of security. Users can use another Google account and block it for better security.

All your actions in private space are unknown to other users. They don’t even see your recent apps or downloads in private space. A safe place to hide your finance and dating apps.

3. Satellite connection

Android 15 “expands platform support for satellite connectivity.” It adds support for SMS, MMS, and native RCS apps to use satellite connectivity to send and receive messages. The operating system also adds some UI elements to provide a consistent user experience.

Not all Android 15 phones will support satellite connectivity, as they will likely require a dedicated chip and carrier support.

4. Program archiving

Apple iPhone users remember this feature as “App Download”. This feature allows you to uninstall unnecessary programs while saving user data. No data loss, you can continue where you left off after reinstalling the app/unzip.

Android already has app archiving via the Google Play Store. It allows you to archive and restore apps via the Google Play Store. However, Android 15 integrates this feature at the OS level, allowing users to archive/restore apps, even those installed outside the Google Play Store.

5. Partial screen sharing

Before Android 14, when you shared your screen or recording, the other person could see everything that appeared on your screen, including incoming notifications and other details.

Android 15 addresses this issue by introducing partial screen sharing. It allows users to choose an app to screencast or record. The video only shows the content of the app and nothing else, such as notifications.

6. High-quality webcam mode

You can use your Android phone as a webcam for your computer. It’s a great feature, but the only downside is the poor video quality. Android 15 fixes this problem by offering a high-quality webcam mode.

You’ll be able to enable this webcam mode by tapping on the new “HQ” symbol in the webcam preview. It turns off any power optimizations you’ve applied that could increase battery consumption.
