In today’s digital age, cybersecurity is at the top of the priority list for almost all companies. A security professional today must not only protect sensitive systems and data from malicious actors, but also assist with regulatory compliance.
The number of jobs in cybersecurity has therefore been increasing for several years. In four years, more than 150 percent of jobs have been created, according to Robert Half. Despite the increasing demand, it remains difficult for many companies to find profiles for cybersecurity experts. Almost seventeen percent of Belgian SMEs are confident that they are sufficiently prepared for increasing cyber threats.
As the NIS2 legislation approaches, the demand for security profiles will only increase. October 17, 2024 is the deadline for the directive to be implemented into national law, although there will be transition periods in this law as well.
