The complainants alleged that Oracle tracked the online behavior of hundreds of millions of consumers and collected them in digital files that could be used for marketing purposes. Consider the allegation a gross violation of the local equivalent of our GDPR.
The complainants alleged that Oracle tracked, among other things, users’ browsing behavior, where they used their credit cards, bought gas, or what banking services they used, and sold this data to marketers.
Oracle denies having done anything wrong and has been negotiating with the complainants for months. The settlement has now put an end to the impending legal dispute. Oracle has now also closed its own advertising division, Oracle Advertising.
