Adobe announces new AI features in Illustrator and Photoshop. Through generative AI, Adobe wants to accelerate creative workflows and give designers more control.
Adobe introduces Generative Shape Fill (beta) for Illustrator, which enables designers to add detailed vectors to shapes by typing text commands in the contextual taskbar. This feature is powered by the new Firefly Vector Model (beta).
Other new features include the Dimension Tool, Mockup (Beta), Text to Pattern (Beta), and Style Reference. These tools help designers save time and focus on the creative aspects of their work.
Photoshop also gets new features like the Selection Brush tool and the Adjustment Brush tool. These tools speed up core processes and make repetitive tasks easier. The Generate Image feature, based on the Adobe Firefly Image 3 model, lets you generate ideas and creations directly in Photoshop.
Ashley Still, senior vice president of digital media at Adobe, emphasizes that the new innovations in Illustrator and Photoshop are designed to maximize productivity and accelerate workflows. “This allows designers to focus on the creative process and bring their vision to life.”

Photoshop also offers new ways to generate and develop ideas, with improved detail and sharpness at large image sizes.
Innovations like the Mockup tool in Illustrator make it easy to create visual prototypes of artwork on objects. The Dimension tool lets you accurately draw dimensions for packaging designs and fashion patterns. The Retype feature lets designers turn static text into editable text and find the perfect fonts for their projects.
The contextual taskbar in both programs presents relevant next steps in the design process, speeding up workflows. Photoshop also introduces improvements to the Text tool and the contextual taskbar to make working with shapes and objects more efficient.
The latest Firefly Vector Model (beta) is now available in Adobe Illustrator, along with other innovations such as Mockup (beta), Dimension Tool, and Retype. Photoshop’s new features, including the Selection Brush tool and image generation, are now available in Photoshop desktop and web app.
