Slack is bringing three new widgets to its iOS mobile version. New messages will appear on your home screen and you can update your status with just a few clicks.
Slack is introducing the first widgets to its mobile app for iOS users. These three new widgets will help users get notified of new messages or tasks even faster, make it easy to catch up on missed calls or adjust their status. The three widgets are designed for the home screen and include Catch Up and Status (which is available in two versions).
The Catch Up widget gives users an overview of how many unread messages and entries are on the home screen without having to open the application. Users can navigate directly to a specific section in a conversation by clicking on the widget.
Additionally, there are two other home screen widgets that streamline Slack status updates. Users can tap the small status widget to go directly to that section of the Slack iOS app, or add the larger version of status updates, which will reveal a box where users can tap pre-selected status options, such as the “Focus” or “Lunch” status.
Slack seems to have made its way onto users’ mobile devices. These widgets make your work-related messages and tasks even more prominent on your phone. Whether that’s a good thing is up to the user to decide.
