Veeam announces a new Splunk extension to help organizations monitor and protect their Veeam backup infrastructure from cyber threats.

Veeam Software is introducing a Splunk extension for Veeam Data Platform. This app enables users to better monitor and analyze their backup infrastructure. The extension is available free of charge to companies with a Veeam Data Platform Advanced or Premium license.

Extensive monitoring

The new extension provides access to detailed dashboards, reports and alerts. With the rise in ransomware attacks, this information is critical for businesses. Last year, 67 percent of businesses fell victim to ransomware, with 93 percent of attacks targeting backups.

John Jester, Chief Revenue Officer at Veeam, commented: “Security professionals can now monitor their Veeam backup environments with the same tools they use for other systems, increasing efficiency and enabling rapid incident response.”

The app integrates seamlessly with Splunk user roles and site management, including:

  • Integrated dashboards for daily monitoring of status and security events.
  • Integrated reports and alerts.
  • Manage severity levels for events and alerts.
  • Support for multiple Veeam Backup & Replication servers.
  • Role-based permissions for locations.
  • Backing up app configurations.

The Veeam App for Splunk supports Splunk Enterprise 9.1.0 and higher and Splunk Cloud Platform 9.1.2308 and higher. The app is available from Splunkbase.
