Google Chrome alerts you when certain tabs are using too many resources and affecting your PC’s performance. The notification feature is currently included in the latest beta version of Google Chrome.

Google Chrome is working on a new feature that will notify users when certain tabs are consuming a lot of resources. It will then be up to the user to decide whether to close the tabs or not. The new Chrome feature is currently hidden behind the latest beta version of the Google Chrome browser, but you can try it out if you download the latest version of Chrome Canary from the Google website.

Never enough tabs

Do you find yourself quickly opening a bunch of tabs during a workday? Then you’re probably not the only one. For some people, this is a convenient way to work, although it also requires a lot of work from your computer. Leaving too many tabs open in Chrome can affect your PC’s performance. Some keen-eyed users have noticed a hidden Chrome feature that now alerts you when your tabs are using too many resources.

Try the feature

Want to try this feature? The feature is currently only available in the latest version of Chrome Canary, which can be downloaded from Google’s website. Open Chrome Canary and type: chrome://flags. Here you can customize various hidden options.

To install the new alert feature, look for and enable the following options: #performance-intervention-ui and #performance-intervention-demo-mode flag. Then restart Chrome Canary and type the following in the address bar: chrome://settings/performance. After that, according to Windows Latest, you should be able to select the performance alert from the list.
