Former President Donald Trump’s 2017-2021 presidential campaign unveiled Tuesday complaint to the Federal Election Commission (FEC, in English) v. Vice President Kamala Harristhe front-runner to win the Democratic nomination for “misusing” campaign funds for President Joe Biden after his resignation.

“Kamala Harris is trying to commit the theft of $91.5 million in Joe Biden’s remaining campaign funds.“This is an egregious misappropriation of funds that constitutes the largest excessive contribution and largest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971,” says the complaint filed by Trump campaign adviser David Warrington.

An adviser accused Harris’ campaign of violating federal campaign finance laws by replacing Joe Biden’s name with his own to gain control of her campaign funds, after Biden’s campaign account changed its name to “Harris for President” on Monday following the president’s decision to resign.

The complaint calls for a criminal investigation into the conduct and seeks to force Biden to return his donations to donors rather than give them to Harris.

In an interview with NPR, Republican Federal Election Commission Chairman Sean Cooksey, a Trump appointee, suggested last Monday that it was “a really complicated situation” and that “it’s going to have to go through the FEC process.”

Biden announced the end of his presidential campaign on Sunday after an insurrection within the Democratic Party, with members of the House and Senate publicly calling for him to step down.

During his June 27 debate against Republican nominee former President Donald Trump, the 81-year-old president showed an aged appearance and struggled to formulate some sentences, drawing sharp criticism from within his party.

Biden has chosen his vice president, Kamala Harris, as his successor, who already secured enough delegates on Monday to guarantee the nomination at the next Democratic National Convention, which begins in Chicago on August 19. In just 24 hours, Harris has set a record by raising more than $81 million for her campaign.
