Who else will make a reservation: a new category has been established
We are working to reserve the conscripted employees of the repair teams. After attacks on power plants and when base stations fail, they are the first to restart the work. Therefore, in order for the network to work stably, the employees of the repair teams should continue to work on site,
– The Ministry of Statistics announced.
How does the Ministry of Digital Affairs plan to stabilize mobile communications and the internet during power outages?
“Ukrainians must have access to basic necessities for life despite the enemy’s actions. Calling an ambulance, writing to relatives or receiving notification of airstrikes is a necessity for people who should not be affected by the power outage,” the ministry said.
Stabilization solutions with mobile communication and Internet:
- Acceptance List of objects that must have uninterruptible power supply. OVA will import this into oblenergo.
- Updated requirements of the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Electronic Communication Networks of Ukraine. Now Mobile operators must provide generators for 25% of networks to operate for more than 72 hours during outages. The rest of the mobile network must operate for 10 hours on rechargeable batteries. Accumulators work on the principle of power banks; they feed base stations during power outages.
- Compliance checks have been strengthened. Operators will report on the status of the NCU on a quarterly basis and NKEK will monitor implementation.
- Operators will be able to apply to oblenergo to modernize their network leading to the organization’s base stations. This will enable charge batteries faster (but batteries still take time to charge).
- The parliament passed a law on this matter Removal of customs duty and VAT on battery and generator imports.
Finally, Work begins on a new service in Diya.
“Ukrainians will be able to report connection issues in the app, even without internet access. Once the connection is restored, the information will be automatically pushed to Action. We will collect and analyze feedback to further work on balancing connectivity,” the Ministry of Digital Affairs said in a statement.
