The launch of Ryzen 9000 was officially confirmed for July 31st, but AMD decided to delay your arrival. The truth is that this is something that does not surprise me, since the expected launch was a few days away, we still did not have information about the samples to analyze and the thought of a possible delay was gaining momentum in the last few days. .
Finally, this idea became a reality. The Ryzen 9000 processors are delayed and will hit the market on two different dates. Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X will launch first, arriving on 8th Augustand Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X will hit the market August 15th.
This division into two lanes is very curious and It’s not common at allbecause normally, when AMD launched a new generation of processors, the first four models always arrived at the same time, in fact, this was the original idea with these new processors, which we know are based on the Zen 5 architecture.
This is the most important question we have to ask ourselves, and I have official answer from AMD that I am leaving it to you as I received it. This answer comes from Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager of computing and graphics at AMD.
“We appreciate the hype surrounding the Ryzen 9000 processors. During the final testing phase, we found that the first production units we shipped to our distribution partners they do not fully meet our quality expectations«.
“Out of an abundance of caution and to keep the experience at the highest possible quality level for every Ryzen user, we are working with our partners replace these first units with new ones. As a result, there will be a slight delay in the commercial availability of these new processors. The Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X will arrive on August 8, and the Ryzen 9 990X and Ryzen 9 9950X will arrive on August 15.
“We are proud offer a high quality experience for all Ryzen users and we hope fans will have a great experience with the new Ryzen 9000.”
In summary, it seems so some kind of minor problem has been identified and that AMD preferred to err on the side of caution and take the necessary measures to resolve this situation. The company didn’t provide details beyond what was said, so we don’t know exactly what happened.
In any case, it is clear that the only possible solution is to replace the already delivered units, which of course takes time. All in all, the delay is only one to two weeks, which is quite reasonable. I think AMD you made the right decision.
