Ismael “El Mayo” ZambadaOne of Mexico’s most powerful drug traffickers and a co-founder of the Sinaloa cartel, pleaded not guilty Friday before a judge in El Paso, Texas, to drug trafficking and money laundering charges he was charged with by the U.S. Justice Department.

In the document he accessed EFEOn Friday, Zambada’s defense team informed the American justice system that it had been announced not guilty of the charges brought against him.

Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada was the last to be arrested July 25 in the USA.along with drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of Joaquin Guzman Loera “El Chapo”.

While there are several versions of how the arrests occurred, it was initially reported that Zambada was captured by authorities, although it was later reported that the Sinaloa cartel leader had surrendered.
