Gran Turismo 7 is, and I’ve said this a while back, one of the main reasons I’d consider buying a PlayStation 5. Not the only one, but the main Sony console exclusive I think a decisive factor in the purchase decision. Launching in March 2022 for both current generation and PS4, we already knew before the market premiere that it would be quite challenging, but we also confirmed that Polyphony Digital has once again taken up the task as it should be. with the title valid for the saga’s 25th birthday… apart from microtransactions, of course, one of the great blows of video games today.

So be it, even with some critical aspects such as the amount of micropayments (in a game that isn’t exactly cheap either), technically it has great technical invoice, because it is something that its developer has always taken great care of. And although today the first titles of the saga may seem very simple, those of us who liked them at the time remember the feeling that we are facing the most realistic simulation (graphically, physically and mechanically) that we have never seen.

This explains that when Polyphony Digital has hinted that a PC port of Gran Turismo 7 is a possibility, we quickly began to wonder if it would be more or less technically difficult, and also crossed our fingers that it would finally work. The disappointment came a month later when Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo and CEO of Polyphony Digital, made it clear that Gran Turismo 7 for PC was not in development. Since then, as throughout its history, they have focused on maintaining and improving the PlayStation version of the game, with updates of course.

In general, these tend to have a fairly limited informational impact, but unfortunately for them and our pleasure, the latest one will also be more notable, namely Gran Turismo 7 update 1.49 completely broke the physics of the game, which simultaneously makes it unplayable under certain circumstances and extremely fun when they occur. The developer has already confirmed that he is aware of the issue and that he is investigating the cause, in addition to clarifying that the issue occurs with certain configuration changes (which of course he did not explain).

And how does this problem translate to the physics of Gran Turismo 7? Below I leave you with a selection of clips posted on social media so you can judge for yourself:

And that’s just a small selection of all the hilarious wonders you can find on Twitter with the #GT7 hashtag. If you have a moment to spare I highly recommend checking it out, you won’t be disappointed.
