President of Venezuela and candidate for re-election, Nicolás Maduro assured this Sunday that he will respect the election results published late in the day by the National Electoral Council (CNE) and calling on nine candidates to publicly commit themselves to the issue.

“I recognize and will recognize the referees, the official ballots and will ensure their respect. (This will be) the sacred word of the judge in the elections, and I call on the 10 presidential candidates, 38 political parties, publicly declare that they will respect the official bulletin of the organization,” “The president told reporters after the vote in western Caracas.

He repeated what he had been saying throughout the election campaign: His candidacy is the “only guarantee of peace” in the country.

Asked about recognizing the results in the event of an election defeat, he stressed that the CNE ballot “They will not only be recognized, but also protected, in an ideal civil-military union,” and assured that everything would work out well.

“I said that everything would come in peace, and it came in peace (on election day), and if there is anything to preserve and protect, it is peace, harmony, coexistence among Venezuelans. This should be a day of victory for good in Venezuela. “Doing good is the greatest expression of love,” he said.

In this sense, he stated that This Monday he will tell “a lot of things” regarding the work carried out by his Government to ensure the peaceful conduct of these elections and recalled his intention to make a new appeal for dialogue with various sectors, including the political and economic sectors.

As it happens, Maduro became the first voter of his center and the first of 10 candidates to vote, with the remaining contenders expected to vote throughout the morning.
