Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado He assured that participation in the presidential elections, which will take place this Sunday in the country, is “amazing”, while emphasizing the organization of citizens who went to their polling stations early.

“We saw how the centers are full of people (…) in all the centers of the country, what we see is apotheosis participation “And I am very proud to be Venezuelan and of our generations who, on a day like today, overcoming all obstacles, realize a dream,” Machado said after the vote.

The former deputy indicated that there were only 1,300 incidents polling stationsout of 30,026 set at the start of the election day, but, he continued, they were resolved, so only 12 remained with “some problems.”

He reported that there is polling centers in which they require “scanning” of an ID card, a requirement that is not provided for by law, so he asked to exclude this as a procedure and speed up the voting process.

Machado stressed that these reports of incidents during pre-election trip These were exceptions, as he said the voting process was peaceful.

“I also want to acknowledge that so far the behavior of the Republican Plan (Bolivarian National Armed Forces), as we expected, is in line with the mandate that military citizens have in Article 328 of the Constitution,” he added, referring to the fact that the military institution is “professional, without political belligerence.”

In this sense Presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, a spokesman for the opposition majority, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), said he believed the Bolivarian National Armed Forces “will respect” the election results.
