Google extends the functionality of Gemini 1.5 Flash and offers generative AI to users without a paid subscription.
Google is making Gemini 1.5 Flash available to users with a free version of Gemini. Gemini 1.5 Flash was introduced during I/O and has been widely available since last month. The model must be speed, not complexity. However, Google is providing new features for Flash.
Latency and quality improve, and available context increases by a factor of four to 32,000 tokens. This means free users can have more complex and longer conversations with Flash without losing context.
Documents
As the model’s short-term memory is upgraded, Flash can in principle also process documents. In the near future, you will be able to upload files via your device or Google Drive. Gemini 1.5 Flash will then summarize these documents, provide insights, and generate visualizations. Google has already provided this functionality in Gemini Advanced, but will soon make it more widely available.
Gemini Flash (without document capacity) is immediately available to everyone via the Internet and mobile.
