France called on Monday for “full transparency” in the disclosure of detailed data on protocols and polling stations and “demands the full application of Venezuelan electoral law, which, above all, implies the full publication of protocols and voting centers,” diplomatic sources said in a statement.

The statement acknowledges that during the presidential elections, the Venezuelan people expressed their opinions in numbers and peacefully. Your choice must be respected.

“France calls for the full application of the Venezuelan electoral law, in particular the full publication of the protocols and results of the polling stations. Only full transparency of the electoral process will guarantee the sincerity of the vote and respect for the will of the voters.”

The vast majority of the international community demanded this Monday that the Venezuelan authorities be transparent in the recount of the presidential elections held yesterday, Sunday, in which the electoral body controlled by Chavismo attributed the victory to the country’s President Nicolás Maduro with 51% of the votes.

The United States, the European Union and most Latin American countries have expressed their concerns about the recount and demanded clarity and publication of all election protocols so that the results make Maduro the winner, who has been congratulated by countries such as Russia, Iran or China.

According to the first official ballot presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE), Maduro, in power since 2013, received 51.20% of the vote, while opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia received 44.20%. opposition.

The Biden administration is “gravely concerned that the results announced do not reflect the will of the Venezuelan people,” White House Homeland Security spokesman John Kirby said in a telephone news conference.

The spokesman said it was “absolutely imperative that every vote is counted fairly and transparently, that election officials immediately share information with the opposition and independent observers, and that election authorities publish full and detailed voting records.”

For his part, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was “gravely concerned” about the credibility of the results announced by the Venezuelan electoral commission.

The governments of Uruguay, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and the Dominican Republic, in a joint statement issued this Monday, express deep concern about the conduct of the elections, demand a complete review of the results and call for an urgent meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS).

“The vote count must be transparent and the results must not be in doubt,” the statement said.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric, one of the most prominent figures on the Latin American left, stressed that it was necessary to hand over all the protocols to both independent international observers and the opposition, and “until this is done, we as a country will withdraw from recognizing what the National Electoral Council has indicated.”

The European Union’s (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said it was “vital to ensure full transparency of the electoral process, including a detailed vote count and access to voting records at polling stations.”

For Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albarez, it is also important that Venezuela’s democratic will be respected by “presenting the protocols of all polling stations to guarantee fully verifiable results.”

The German government said the announced results did not dispel doubts about the vote count, so it asked the Caracas authorities to ensure transparency in the vote count and make the protocols public so that the opposition could clearly see who won the vote.
