[Síguenos ahora también en WhatsApp. Da clic aquí] The Supreme Court of Venezuela (TSJ) has gathered everyone candidates of the last presidential elections come this friday and start the process “checking” votes, at the request of the president Nicolas Maduro this week, and who was also quoted.

The president of the Chavista Chamber, Carislia Rodríguez, recognized as “competent” the request presented this Wednesday by the head of state, in which he asked to clarify “everything that needs to be clarified” regarding the elections, whose National Electoral Council (CNE) result cemented his victory despite complaints of fraud from most of the opposition.

In this sense, he announced the opening of the “investigation and verification process for the unlimited confirmation of the official results”, announced on Monday by the CNE, when 20% of the protocols had yet to be scrutinized.

Therefore, the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court convened Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia – the standard-bearer of the majority opposition – Javier Bertucci, Benjamin Rausseo, Daniel Ceballos, Claudio Fermin, Antonio Ecarri, Luis Eduardo Martinez, José Brito and Enrique Márquez, in addition to Maduro, at 2:00 p.m. local time this Friday.

“I am ready to be interrogated and investigated by TSJ”: Maduro

Maduro made the request to the TSJ, whose president has openly declared herself a member of the ruling party and an active supporter of Chavismo, after two days of protests against his announced reelection, while the main opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), insists that González Urrutia won and has created a web page with election records that they claim support their claim.

However, according to Maduro, this statement by the PND is “The most criminal attempt to encroach on power” which has been “seen until today” and is ” global conspiracy against venezuela” which seeks to remove him from the presidency he assumed in 2013 following the death of Hugo Chavez.

“I am ready to be summoned, interrogated (…) investigated by the Electoral Chamber (controlled by the Chavistas) as a presidential candidate who won the elections and as head of state,” he stressed.

CNE Announces Winner Maduro leads by just over 704,114 votes against Gonzalez Urrutia, with more than two million votes left to be counted, which could change the final results.

Maduro assured that the parties supporting him are ready to provide 100% of the protocols, without giving further details on this matter.

The Carter Center, which monitored the elections, said on Tuesday that the process “did not meet” international parameters and standards for election integrity and therefore “cannot be considered a democratic election.” (EFE)
