Xiaomi confirms there will be no easy way to disable system ads

Phones Xiaomi It has long been praised for its affordability and multifunctional offerings. However, a persistent problem for users is the presence of ads in the user interface (UI). While it is possible to turn off these ads, the process is complicated and does not meet users’ expectations.

A recent leak suggested that Xiaomi We may finally be looking into creating a single toggle to disable system ads entirely. However, the company has confirmed that this toggle will not be coming to Android skins anytime soon, which will likely disappoint many users.

In the application Android Authority Xiaomi acknowledged plans to improve user experience by reducing the number of pre-installed apps and “homepages for viewing content,” hinting at a potential reduction in the spread of viruses. However, the statement explicitly rejected the idea of a dedicated switch to disable ads:

“We do not plan to add a key that only a small number of users will be able to discover and use at this time.”

This logic is likely to frustrate many users. Currently, disabling ads requires a multi-step approach.

Users must find the unknown MSA app in Settings and then go through individual app settings like File Manager, Music, and Downloads to remove all unwanted ads. This cumbersome process stands in stark contrast to the simple solution users were hoping for.

While the news that the virus is decreasing is positive, it doesn’t solve the underlying problem of messy and annoying ad-blocking. Xiaomi’s excuse for omitting a dedicated key seems particularly disingenuous given that the current system requires users to dig deep into the settings menu on multiple apps.

It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will reconsider its positioning in the future. Until then, users looking for a simplified, ad-free experience may have to look elsewhere or put up with the current confusing approach.
