Who (allegedly) created Bitcoin?

Tucker Carlson attended a special event dedicated to the topic of cryptocurrencies in 2024 in support of Trump. The former Fox News anchor, who now has his own show on X that spreads fake news, conspiracy theories and pro-Russian propaganda, said: Bitcoin is an “open” creation of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

It was clearly the CIA, we all know that. Like Signal, they got there first. It’s a sweet trap!
Carlson told the Nashville crowd with a smile.

While US intelligence has documented ties to the founding of Signal, the popular encrypted messaging app backed by Elon Musk and Edward Snowden, the same cannot be said for Bitcoin. By combining the two technologies, Carlson seems to be suggesting that the government’s interest in collaborating with rapidly developing technologies is the same as its interest in creating them.

The fact that fuels the fire of this conspiracy theory is that No one really knows the identity of Bitcoin founder Satoshi NakamotoAlthough over the years various individuals have taken up this claim, offering fabricated evidence and dubious theories.

Cryptocurrency people don’t just want to make money, they want to change the world. These are not superficial people. These are people who can answer every question except “Who was Satoshi?” Someone has to answer that!

He adds that in the end it didn’t really “matter” to him because the idea was “still great.”

This is far from the worst thing Carlson has ever said, but it does show that he and his associates are extremely open to the various conspiracy theories they peddle without any credible evidence.
