Google Lens has been around for a while one of the most useful features provided by Google to perform searches and other operations. But it is true that, since the beginning of this year, it has been somewhat overshadowed by Circle to Search, which initially offered the same function, but with a much wider scope, thanks to its integration into the operating system and therefore . Therefore, it can be used with any content displayed on the screen.
Over the years, Google Lens has evolved from just a tool to identify the content of an image and perform searches with it (as we can do with Google Images) to add other very interesting features, such as translating texts, searching for related information and the ability to copy the captured text to the clipboard. Features that have actually also made the leap to Circle to Search, blurring the lines between the two except for how to access each.
This has led to some questioning in recent months whether it makes sense to keep both, but it’s actually a very biased view as Circle to Search is only available on a small list of devices, while access to Google Lens is practically universal. So unless Google’s plans include bringing Circle to Search across both the Android and iOS ecosystems, we can predict that Lens will continue to be very present.
You can now use your voice to add context to Google Lens searches!
Press and hold the shutter button in Lens and it will say “Now talk and ask about this picture”. After saying a question, release the button and Google Gemini will try to answer. pic.twitter.com/uHkgjNQOog

Plus, as if that wasn’t enough, today we have some big news coming up because, as you can read in the tweet about this paragraph, Google Lens has become multi-modal and allows for video and voice inputs. This way, when we want to do a certain search with Lens, we can use both still images and video, and we can also supplement them with voice instructions, similar to what some AI-based chatbots already offer.
The most interesting thing is that in addition It appears that Google has already started rolling out this new featurealthough it’s still not clear if it does it globally or if it will last over time, since I read about some users who already know how to use this multimodal search in Google Lens, but I just checked it on both Android and iOS and at least for now I don’t not available on either operating system.
