US Immigration Authorities They will expand access to the CBP One mobile app to southern Mexico.which allows migrants to make an appointment to file asylum cases at the border and thus not do so illegally.

The app will be available to migrants in the United States. Chiapas and Tabasco, which will allow them to schedule appointments without having to travel north of the country, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a statement.

The agency did not give an exact date when access would be allowed, but He said it would be “soon.”

US authorities said they were in “constant communication” with the Mexican government and “work together” to adjust policies and practices in line with the latest migration trends and security needs.

Expanding access to the application is part of efforts by the US President Joe Biden government, for reducing the number of illegal migrants crossing the southwest border, where apprehensions have fallen since asylum restrictions were put in place last July.

Currently, migrants must be physically present in central or northern Mexico to apply or process a claim through CBP One, which offers every day on average about 1500 citations.

CBP reminded that migrants living in these sectors – northern and central Mexico – will still be able to schedule meetings appear at eight ports of entry on the U.S.-Mexico border: Brownsville, El Paso, Eagle Pass, Hidalgo and Laredo in Texas; Calexico and San Ysidro in California; and Nogales in Arizona.

“Scheduling appointments on CBP One provides a safe, orderly and humane process so that aliens can gain access to ports of entry rather than attempting to enter the United States illegally,” the agency said.
