After a busy June for WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging app, the start of summer was fitting, if not without major changes. The meta service continues to improve on a formula that works after a major redesign it recently underwent.
Now, in July, it introduced two new features that improve the user experience. These features, which focus on privacy and chat management, represent another step for WhatsApp. These are the two new features and everything else that will be coming in the coming weeks..
This group is spam
At the beginning of July, WhatsApp introduced a new feature that introduces an information card when we are added to a group. This card includes information such as who added us, whether that person is in our contact list, who created the group and when. This information is interesting for users to quickly determine the legitimacy of the group and whether they want to stay in the group. It also offers options. leave the group, report or blockThis increases control and privacy. This is especially true today, when scams on the Meta app are proliferating.
This update addresses a fundamental need: to protect ourselves from unwanted groupsgives us more transparency and security. It is a simple way to recognize spam messages on WhatsApp. By knowing the origin of the group and its members immediately, we can make a decision to prevent problems in the future.
View only your favorite chats
A few days later, a small change was added to the app that made it easier to find the people we communicate with most. We could add people to our favorites, but we couldn’t see them on the screen by themselves. Once marked, We can filter thanks to the new button at the toplabeled as “Favorites”. Some time after the introduction of the mentioned filters, another one is added to the already existing list. In addition, these favorites will appear highlighted not only in live WhatsApp chats but also in the calls section.
This functionality aims to improve the organization and access related conversationsespecially useful for some of us who have accumulated dozens of chats. The update is rolling out globally in phases and reaching all users.
Coming soon to WhatsApp: What does the beta tell us?
While it wasn’t a month of a lot of new features, the two features we reviewed represent significant improvements. Now, what’s coming in the coming weeks (or months, depending on testing) looks promising: These are the new features we discovered in WhatsApp beta versions.:
- Video calls with effects and backgrounds: WhatsApp Beta recently launched effects and backgrounds for video callschanging the experience forever. Once this feature is available to everyone, it will be possible to customize the visual experience similar to other platforms like Messenger.
- Animated stickers: Even more customization, we will have access to thousands of stickers that move gracefully with animated stickers. They can embed directly from GIPHYIt greatly expands the expression options in chats without having to download additional apps.
- Expanded multi-device: WhatsApp has for some time allowed two accounts registered through the traditional process of using our phone number to be linked to the app. But now it is possible to add a secondary account as an additional deviceleaving us with one “real” account and one “linked” account. It’s easier to use multiple accounts simultaneously without the need for cheats or cloning apps.
