Rocket SpaceX Falcon 9 Last Sunday, August 4, 2024, Northrop Grumman launched a Cygnus cargo ship to the International Space Station. The rocket’s first stage then returned to Earth for a safe landing. Thanks to the releases, the process can now be watched in awe. SpaceX a short video.


The nearly minute-long clip shows in detail the Falcon 9’s return to the ground pad at Cape Canaveral, including the sonic boom created by the rocket.

Sonic booms are a common occurrence during Falcon 9 first stage re-entry. The sound occurs as the boosters slow down as they break the sound barrier.

According to this SpaceXSunday’s launch was the 10th for the Falcon 9 first stage, bringing SpaceX’s reuse record to 22. SpaceX has completed a total of 300 booster landings during Falcon 9 missions.

Unlike the Falcon 9 or the company’s Dragon vehicle SpaceXThe Cygnus spacecraft is designed for single-use and will burn up in Earth’s atmosphere after separating from the ISS in January 2025.
