Venezuelan President Nicolas Ripeannounced that he plans to talk with Mexican leaders Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador; from Brazil Luis Inacio Lula da Silva; and from Colombia Gustavo Peterto address the July 28 elections.

“This waiting to talk to the three presidents, let’s hope it happens“The president said after leaving the Supreme Court (TSJ), where he appeared before the judges of the Electoral Chamber as part of the judicial review of the election results, which Maduro himself requested.

He assured that in recent days, without specifying when this conversation was supposed to take place, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to scheduling problems of one or more of the interlocutors, whose foreign ministries yesterday issued a joint statement in which they demanded that the National Electoral Council (CNE) publish disaggregated results confirming Maduro’s victory.

«I have deep respect for these three presidents. and I will contact them at the right time,” the head of state continued, assuring that he would be available “by phone 24 hours a day” to talk to these leaders, considered his political allies in the region.

“What’s circulating in the media in these countries is manipulation”: Maduro

He insisted that he respected the sovereignty of each of these countries, so he would not comment on the actions of their governments and that when the time came he would explain them in detail to the presidents. “It is difficult to understand the situation” that Venezuela is experiencing.

“Everything that circulates in the media in these countries is manipulation, (but we) are experts in fighting this, we have the power to defeat lies,” he added.

The CNE said it suffered a cyberattack on its system on election day, which did not stop Maduro from making a claim without providing evidence, while the opposition posted thousands of voting records on the website that gave his candidate Edmundo González Urrutia a landslide victory.

Complaints of fraud and post-election protests, some of which turned violent and left 24 civilians dead, according to the NGO Provea, are being treated as a “cyber coup” by the executive, which has ordered increased police and military controls. EFE
