British billionaire Richard Branson’s space company has announced plans for commercial operation of its Delta Class spaceplanes. Virgin Galactic could conduct up to 125 flights per year in the first few years after its two new Delta Class spaceplanes enter commercial operation, the company’s chief financial officer Doug Ahrens said in a recent presentation.
Once the number of Delta Class spaceplanes increases to four, Virgin Galactic will be able to fly 275 flights per year and generate revenues of $990 million.
But for now, these are just estimates, as Virgin Galactic recently built a factory to produce the Delta, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2026. By then, the company will need to build the space planes, conduct tests, and obtain permits for use.
