Space Perspective, a Florida (USA) startup specializing in space tourism services, announced the completion of construction of the first “sea spaceport” that will send tourists to the edges of space via stratospheric balloons.
Marine Spaceport Voyager (named after Voyager 1) took two years to build. The massive 300-foot-tall platform is equipped to both launch and re-embark SpaceBalloons, sealed modules that will send passengers on a six-hour journey to the edge of space (about 30.5 kilometers above the surface).
Tests of capsules that will send tourists to the edge of space are planned to begin this year, and Space Perspective’s commercial flights into the stratosphere are scheduled to begin in 2025.
