Only we are one day and a few hours away from the Made by Google event scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13. Since we learned about its date when it was announced at the end of June, we have spent time trying to understand the reason why Google changed October, the month chosen for the presentation and launch of its Google Pixel, to August, not for these purposes the usual month, although it is true that until a few years ago it was also the one chosen by Samsung for the renewal of its foldables.

Also, as it could not be otherwise, we repeated a lot of rumors and leakssomething will happen that we expected, but even so it surprised us with its volume and depth. Now, although it is unusual for Google, the most striking thing is that the company itself already expected Made by Google tomorrow afternoon, confirming for example the Pixel 9 Pro and also the launch of the second generation of its foldable (as well as its new name).

What we’ve been talking about the most since the event was announced was the Pixel 9 generation, but We know that smartphones will not be the only protagonists tomorrow’s events, as they will share the spotlight with the third generation of smart watches of this technology, the long-awaited Pixel Watch 3, which also comes with interesting news, especially with a size that will undoubtedly please many of its potential buyers. And of course we can also take it for granted that artificial intelligence will play an important role.

So let’s see what we hope they’ll tell us in tomorrow’s Made by Google.

Google Pixel 9

We start of course with the main protagoniststhe most awaited, the new generation of Google Pixel, which, although it will not represent a big leap compared to its predecessor, but it comes with interesting news, especially considering the expansion of the family, which is starting to have three to five members (although in fact one of them already existed, just he hasn’t formally joined the family yet).

The current generation consists of these three models:

• Pixel 8, introduced in October 2023
• Pixel 8 Pro, introduced in October 2023
• Pixel 8a, introduced in May 2024

And as a “free verse” in May 2023, the Google Pixel Fold presented, which is actually close to the Pixel 7 generation (it was presented together with the Pixel 7a at Google I/O 2023). which shares the same SoC.

In this case, however, we expect five models, four of which we will present at Made by Google, and one of which we do not yet know which markets it will reach. They are the following:

• Pixel 9: codename “Tokay”. Replaces Pixel 8.
• Pixel 9 Pro: code name “Caiman”. A new proposalwith 9 Pro specs but Pixel 9 size..
• Pixel 9 Pro XL: codename “Komodo”. Replaces Pixel 8 Pro.
• Pixel 9 Pro Fold: codenamed “Comet”. Replaces Pixel Fold.
• Pixel 9a: no known codename. Replaces Pixel 8a. Run in spring 2025?

Of this menu overhaul, the most interesting move is undoubtedly found in the new Pixel 9 Pro, which in its name might seem like a refresh of the 8 Pro, but in fact, that role corresponds to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Pixel 9 Pro we’ll see tomorrow is Google’s response to users who want the absolute top of the range, but want it around 6.2 inches. And that may seem like a small detail, but it’s not at all, because for some time now, a large part of the industry has decided to limit the top of the specification range to models in the 6.7-inch range.

As for what will happen with the foldable device, we still have big doubts, will the Pixel 9 Pro Fold make the jump to other markets? Rumors have been circulating both ways, and when the prices of the entire generation, including the folding one, were leaked, the origin of the data was in France, which makes us think that there will be some kind of expansion along these lines. And will it arrive in Spain? I’m not so clear about it and although I would certainly be happy if it were so, for now I have optimism in my pocket.

What stands out the most here is something that we also expected, which is that a new price increase is coming, which applies to all models, with the sole exception of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, similar to the first generation of folding devices that debuted in a small selection of markets, including Germany.

Pixel Watch 3

As I indicated at the beginning, The Pixel 9 will share the Made by Google spotlight with the new Pixel Watch 3a new generation of search engine smartwatch that repeats confirmation of receiving feedback from its users. So if the second generation responded to requests for improvements compared to the first (for example, a more durable screen and greater autonomy), we are once again faced with a similar movement that makes this generation even more attractive to many, myself included.

The most remarkable news and also expected by many is this This generation will come in two sizeswhich we already found in the two previous generations, 41 millimeters, and the new larger model, 45 millimeters. And although 4 millimeters may not seem like much, in fact we are talking about 10% of the size of the small one, and if we add to that that in this generation the proportion of the screen compared to the total size of the front will also increase, We discovered a fact that makes it a very clear jump, which is that the Pixel Watch 3 45 millimeters have a 40% larger screen size than the Pixel Watch 2.

Of course, this is not the only important news, as we already told you a few weeks ago and we were able to reveal it to you recently due to the leak of the promotional documentation for the smart watch. Here are the others we expect:

• An Actua screen (like the Pixel 9) with a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits compared to 1,000 for the current model’s screen.
• An improvement in autonomy, something that users also request, and this in this generation reaches up to 24 hours with the mode still on activated.

I’m not saying anything new by mentioning it Google has been focusing on artificial intelligence since the beginning of last yearin response to the huge market movement towards this technology. And from what’s been leaked, it doesn’t look like Made by Google will be an exception in that sense. What’s more, although this is personal speculation, I have a feeling that much of the time spent on the devices will actually be devoted to the AI ​​features implemented in them.

And what do we expect in this sense? The most notable thing is undoubtedly the screenshotsa thoughtful reimagining of Windows 11’s controversial “Recall” feature that caused so many headaches for Microsoft. And in this case, it will be the user who decides how and when to take footage, which will be analyzed and added to a list of memories for later AI-based searches.

Also, how could it not be otherwise, we hope features related to image creation and editing. As a reminder, the Pixel family has long stood out for its photography features and more recently for the integration of AI-based features.
