For years, TomTom was a real boon for drivers. Its portable navigation devices were the beginning of the services that applications such as Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps provide us today for free.

The company is reinventing itself but continues to maintain its alternative for mobile phones: it is called TomTom GO Navigation and now it wants to convince us to use it instead of the proposals of Google or Apple. And for this it has an interesting argument: Give us a one-year subscription to the tool.

The main hurdle for many users is that you have to pay a subscription of €19.99 per year to take advantage of the options of this tool.

The options are pretty similar to those offered by, say, Google Maps or Waze, but there’s one area where TomTom Go Navigation could be particularly interesting.

About offline mapsIt allows us to reach our destination without any problems, even when we are not connected to existing mobile networks. Maps are updated monthly and downloaded to our mobile phone, complete with real-time traffic information and speed camera alerts.

It is true that in Google Maps or Waze it is possible to download maps to use offline, but the process is a bit more cumbersome and involves downloading small maps, while in TomTom we can download as many as we want from the first moment, if they take up too much space. For example, those in Spain are divided into three large areas and take up about 1.5 GB in total.

There are other attractive options in TomTom GO Navigation, such as searching for gas stations and even charging stations, with particular attention to trucking, and it also saves time when it comes to finding parking.

So now we have a much more promising alternative. TomTom is currently offering a one-year free subscription that allows us to save 19.99 euros on the annual subscription cost.

To benefit from it we will have to go to the promotional website, activate it, download the application and open it, but be careful: when doing so a window will open that allows us to choose the type of vehicle we drive.
