Oppo launches the Oppo A80 G5 in our country. It is a price-oriented smartphone that should last long both inside and out. Now the software.

Oppo is introducing the Oppo A80 G5 in Belgium. The smartphone is available for a recommended retail price of 299 euros. For this money you get the following specifications:

Oppo is proud of the durability of the smartphone. It has an SGS Drop resistanceCertification and can withstand a lot. Oppo has used drop-proof materials on both the inside and outside to absorb shocks. The battery also has to last a long time: Oppo guarantees that it will still be fresh even after four years.

We’re familiar with this warranty from other devices, but unfortunately it conflicts with the limited software support. This smartphone will receive upgrades to Android 16 (two years), with security updates up to three years after launch. This basically means that the software wears out faster than the hardware. Hopefully Oppo will decide to extend support a bit.

Wet hands

The manufacturer provides the Oppo A80 5G with an IP54 certificate and bakes Splash TouchTechnology that, in theory, allows you to operate the screen even with wet hands. This is useful for those who have just gotten out of the shower or are taking a refreshing dip in the summer. In other words, you can use your phone in the pool as long as it doesn’t sink. The device is not designed for that.

Oppo integrates some AI features and uses them AI LinkBoost to ensure that the internet connection remains stable. Oppo Eraser lets you edit photos using AI and remove unwanted elements.

Competitive price range

The Oppo A80 G5 is the local version of the Oppo A3 Pro, which the phone manufacturer launched on international markets at the end of June. Here, the device, which costs 299 euros, faces strong competition from the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite and the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, among others. They cost a little more, but have higher specifications in terms of screen resolution, for example.
