Like the individual messages currently active on TikTok, group chats are only available to users over the age of 15. The company’s managers also assure that they have created security measures to protect young people aged 16-17.
So a user can only join a group chat from a mutual follower. So: If a teen receives an invitation to join a group chat, they won’t be able to join unless they have at least one mutual friend in the group. And those who create a new group chat will need to be the admin, manage and approve those who want to join.
