The ammunition for the laser beam was developed at the Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE) affiliated to the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). During the tests, the bomb was integrated into Bayraktar TB2.
Institute spokesperson Gürkan Okumuş noted that the developers have created an enhanced combat unit for Bozok. The institute also increased the range of ammunition to 15 kilometers.
It is stated that the new ammunition is lighter than the MAM-L bombs, which are part of the laser semi-active target-guided small ammunition family.
Bayraktar TB2 attack drone made its first flight in 2014. The aircraft can carry two UMTAS anti-tank missiles or four Bozok, MAM-C and MAM-L bombs.
