Scientists Name Animal That Could Be Earth’s “Lord”

The usual picture of the world, where man is the undisputed “master” of the world, may change. Scientists have put forward bold hypotheses about which animals have the greatest potential to occupy our niche in the event of a global catastrophe.

Rats: survival of the fittest

British ethologist Richard Dawkins believes that mice are one of the main contenders for the evolutionary breakthrough. Their ability to survive in the harshest conditions, their high intelligence and their advanced social structure make them ideal candidates for the role of “new masters.” Dawkins suggests that if mice were left without a rival in terms of resources after a global catastrophe, they would begin to evolve rapidly.

Dogs: Man’s best friend or successor?

Dogs, who have been loyal companions to humans for centuries, can also take on the role of a dominant species. They demonstrate high levels of intelligence, complex social interactions, and the ability to experience human-like emotions. Scientists believe that the dog’s brain has the potential for greater intellectual development.

Monkeys: closest relatives

Monkeys, especially large species, have a complex social hierarchy and high intelligence. Scientists believe that under certain conditions, for example, in the event of selective extinction of humans, monkeys could reach human intelligence and occupy our niche.

Power distribution

Perhaps no single animal can replace humans. More likely, different animal species will share their spheres of influence and coexist, creating a new ecosystem.

Although these hypotheses may seem fantastic, they make us think about our role in the world and what could happen if we do not take good care of our planet. Perhaps one day we will pass the baton to another species that is more worthy of the title of “master” of the Earth. Source
