Joe BidenPresident of the United States, misunderstood question about the holiday new elections in venezuelawhat created the watch confusion after he hinted that he supported a repeat of the election.

When Biden was questioned by the press before boarding the presidential helicopter Marine One, a journalist asked him if he supported calling new elections in Venezuela, and he simply answered: “Yes.”without disclosing further details.

Hours later, however, a White House spokesman clarified that the president was referring to the “absurdity” of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s failure to release the voting records from the July 28 election in which the ruling party had declared Maduro’s reelection.

The official confirmed that Washington believes that opponent Edmundo González Urrutia won the election.

Lula calls for new elections in Venezuela

The debate over holding new elections in Venezuela will unfold after this Thursday during an interview in Radio TPresident of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvaproposed two possible solutions to the post-election crisis in Venezuela: the formation of a coalition government uniting members of Chavismo and the opposition, or holding new elections.

Peter proposes a “national front”

Meanwhile, Colombian President Gustavo Petro has proposed that Venezuela create a “national front” similar to the one that existed in Colombia in the 20th century, in which liberals and conservatives alternated in power as a “transitional” step toward a “final solution” to the crisis, in an idea similar to Lula’s proposal for a coalition government.

Following the elections in Venezuela, the governments of Brazil, Colombia and Mexico have begun contacts to find a solution to the crisis. These are mediation efforts that are supported in particular by the United States. (EFE)
