The Intel Arc A380 is one of the cards developed by the chip giant for its return to the specialized graphics business. If only we could see the laptop version so far this is the first time we see a desktop model.
You already know that Intel has decided (perhaps out of necessity due to delays in launching) to begin its new graphics journey in China and with models that will be installed on OEM devices. It shouldn’t take too long for them to be launched for retail sale, as both NVIDIA and AMD are preparing their new generations with the GeForce RTX 40 and Radeon RX 7000. But that will be a different story.
Intel Arc A380 from MSI
Chinese retailer JD, one of the largest in Asia, has listed a computer from MSI, which is interested in being the first to see a dedicated Intel desktop. The equipment is from the MAG series and includes a Z690-A chipset board for Intel Alder Lake processors with models to choose from up to Core i7-12700KF or Core i5-12400F and a hardware base with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD.
The most interesting of the configurations is the aforementioned Intel Arc A380. It is a basic model (Intel will launch at least 3 more cards with higher performance) with a graphics core ACM-G11 and eight Xe cores. It includes 6 GB dedicated memory and its bus is 96 bits.
The card manufacturer is not listed, but since it is an MSI team, it will certainly be a custom version. The name is also given ‘OC’ indicating its ability to overclock or already factory overclock over Intel benchmarks. The power supply of the computer is 650 watts, which is relatively low, which would indicate that the consumption of the graphics card will not be high.
MSI provides basic information about 1080p graphics card performance in sports titles, with frames per second ranging from 85 to 200 FPS depending on the game. So we don’t have specific performance data, but we’ll definitely know when these OEMs are launched.
The story is what we’ve been talking about since we learned about Intel’s return to the specialized business: the giant has the potential, talent and resources to become consistent alternative and its return is welcomed as the third major GPU manufacturer competing with NVIDIA and AMD.
