A man in his 30s who momentarily lost consciousness was ended up in hospital from the tourist city of Gold Coast, in the eastern state QueenslandThe regional ambulance service reported this to the media.
the victim received superficial injuries and “cannot remember the event,” Scott Brown, a spokesman for Queensland Ambulance Service, told Australia’s ABC public service.
The injured man was in a small boat with a friend who was not injured and was able to contact authorities for help.
The “extremely unusual” incident occurred at around 9:00 a.m. local time when the boat was about a kilometer from the shore.
“We’ve seen boats in trouble and being struck by whales before, but never (whales spotting) people sitting on the boat,” Brown said.
A team of medics and a police boat managed to reach the boat where the wounded man was and bring him back to land.
