Microsoft introduced new features in the latest build of Windows 11 in the Canary channel, labeled as 27686, which make the operating system a little more efficientand also more customizable and easier to manage for any user profile, although the novelty we will see today is aimed at laptops, convertibles and 2 in 1s.
The Redmond company states that with this build implemented optimizations which will improve autonomy on a single battery charge. He didn’t specify these optimizations, but invited all members of the Canary channel to give them feedback so they can see if these optimizations work or don’t have the expected effect.
On the other hand, Microsoft also introduced an important change that will make it easier to use laptops in battery mode and connected to powerbecause we will not have to go back to the configuration settings and change the plan every time we use our device in one of these two modes.
Two custom plans in Windows 11

This is another of the most important changes that Microsoft introduced with this new build, and one of the most successful. Until now we could only use one power plan with Windows 11, meaning that if we had a power saving plan active for use in battery mode and plugged the laptop in, we had to manually switch to a different plan that offered more performance.
Two different power plans can be configured with this new build They will be activated depending on the mode we are using team. So if we use the laptop on battery, the plan associated with the specified mode will be used, and if we have it connected to power, the plan associated with this mode will be used. We will no longer have to change manually.
You can see in the attached picture that we can too select a general power plan so that it is applied uniquely to the system, which is exactly what appears above the two optional modes that distinguish between using the battery and connected laptop. Just below we have other configuration options that we already know.
With this new option, it would be ideal to choose a power saving mode to use the laptop in battery mode and a high performance plan when plugged in. We don’t know when this new feature will arrive on the general channel, but since it was just released on the Canary channel, it will most likely still be available. in a few months.
