Misogyny to be treated as ‘ideological extremism’ in UK

Extreme misogyny will be seen as another form ideological “extremism” under new plans by the UK’s Labour government, the Home Office said on Sunday.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has ordered a review of the “gaps” in the UK’s current counter-extremism strategy to determine the best way to tackle the threat posed by “harmful” ideologies, and confirmed the review will include hatred of women, because this is one of the trends that is gaining momentum.

The announcement came after riots devastated several cities in the United Kingdom after stabbing of three girls in Southport, which has resulted in several hundred people being charged, with at least 72 of the accused being minors.
