It’s not even a year yet, though Circle to Search has already become one of Google’s flagship designs for Android. And there is no need for it, because in addition to the enormous utility value it had already at its inception, new functions and possibilities have been added that exponentially multiply the uses we can give it. I, and I’ve been saying this since it debuted in January, think it’s one of the last great successes of a search engine.
In case you don’t know what that is, Circular Search initially made it possible for you select whatever content was currently displayed on the screen (regardless of whether it was an app, operating system, video, video call… whatever) and search for it in Google Images. A feature that has been present for a long time in Google Lens (which also recently added new features), but which makes doing this type of search much faster and more convenient.
As I say, that was its original function, but As the months passed, new ones were added.to which we must add those that have been filtered. From real-time text translation to solving math problems, the ability to capture and process content that’s displayed in a certain area of the screen has come such a long way that we’ll likely continue to see it add new features in the future.
Well, although it’s not official, we find ourselves once again with a new development along these lines. As we read in Android Police, Circle to Search will soon let you select the entire screenthis means that it will no longer be necessary to limit the search to a specific part of it. It must be said that yes, in reality today we can already select the entire screen, but to do this we have to go around it manually, which can be rather tedious and even inconvenient if we use the mobile with one hand.
However, it is still unclear exactly how this will work, although one can understand and hope that after clicking on the Search Circle some type of control will appear as an overlay to the screen contentand that it will be enough to activate it to capture all the content. At the moment, this future feature is detected in the latest beta version of the Google app (v15.32.36.29.arm64 beta) and displays an information box about it when it is first activated. Of course, we don’t know when it will debut, but it will undoubtedly be very useful.
