Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harrisreceived the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday at a rally in the key state of Wisconsin, just minutes after party delegates ratified his candidacy at the convention in Chicago.

Immediately after Harris was announced as the nominee, screens from the Chicago convention moved to a campaign event in Milwaukee, where Vice President was met with a standing ovation those present as Beyoncé’s song “Freedom,” which has become the anthem of her campaign, played.

«We are honored to be your nominees.“Harris said, with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, his chosen running mate and vice presidential nominee, on the stand.

“This is a people-driven campaign, and together we will forge a new path forward!” Harris exclaimed to applause from the audience.

The vice president already became the party’s official presidential nominee earlier this month, winning a majority of the 4,500 delegates elected in a primary election that saw US President Joe Biden wins with virtually no serious challengers.

When Biden announced on July 21 that he was ending his presidential campaign, Most delegates supported Harris and on Tuesday during the convention they ratified it again, demonstrating party unity.

Thus, Harris became first woman of African-American and Indian descent which receives the nomination from one of the traditional parties of the American political system, one of the oldest in the world.

Harris will deliver her long-awaited speech on Thursday, the final day of the Democratic National Convention, to formally accept the party’s nomination. (EFE)
