We’ve known that for a long time Microsoft considers the Xbox Series war lost. We have previously covered both the situation itself and the reasons that may have influenced it, and of course how it affects short and medium term plans. Better not to talk about the long ones, because if today we still have a lot to know about what they are planning for the next generation, what will come after the fact is still being written.

We already know, although there has been no official statement on the matter (and it is possible that it will never happen). an Xbox Series Pro project is more than out of the question. This is no doubt quite a reasonable decision and therefore understandable as we can imagine that his sales forecasts must be quite disappointing and thus his potential to generate economic losses is high at very high levels.

That’s a shame, actually, because as we told you before the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 hit the market, On a technical level, Microsoft’s console is a very solid propositionin many ways on par with Sony’s consoles, and even slightly higher at some key points. Image, catalog, previous generation load… there are quite a few elements that need to be added to a shaker to get the combination that explains its failure.

The fact that Microsoft has now scrapped plans for the current generation and focused on the next does not mean that the current one has been completely abandoned to its fate. As you may remember, in this sense In June, they announced their plan to launch three new models by the end of the year. But they did so without confirming specific dates for when that would happen, leading to speculation about when this announcement would happen practically from day one. And several voices agreed to pick up Gamescom 2024.

Congratulations to those who brought it up, because really Microsoft has announced that three new Xbox series will hit the market on October 15that is, in less than two months. Since they were announced back in June and their prices even advanced, there were no surprises, just the expected confirmation of the date and yes, the start of pre-sales in certain markets. These are, as we have already told you, three new models.

• Xbox Series X 2TB. It will be a special version, the biggest innovation of which will be an increase in storage capacity 2 TB. It will also offer a new “Galaxy Black” color finish (silver, gray and green), which Microsoft says will “will feature thousands of games and millions of players playing on Xbox”. This version will include a special Xbox controller with a “Galaxy Black D-pad and Velocity Green back shell”. It will have a price of 649.99 euros.
• The Xbox series. Microsoft will also for the first time release a version of the Xbox Series X without a disc drive and in white. It will have a standard 1 TB SSD and will sell for 499.99 euros.
• Xbox Series S. The version of the console that launched in 2023 returns in a white finish edition. It will have a price of 349.99 euros.
