Thanks to a new storage feature, WeTransfer links are now valid for up to thirty days. For free users, the limit is seven days.

Everyone has been there: you receive a WeTransfer link via email but forget to download the files. After a few days, you realize that the link is no longer valid and you awkwardly have to ask for the link to be sent again. With WeTransfer, you now have more time to download files via a link.

In a post on The company’s communication was quite confusing as the post suggested that links would no longer expire at all. To be clear, this is not the case, but the expiration period is extended to a maximum of thirty days.

Save for later

WeTransfer introduces a new feature called Save for laterthat appears next to the download button when you receive a link. This feature saves the download link as a bookmark in your browser. This can extend the expiration date of the link from a few days to thirty days. Of course, you still have to remember to download the files because the link disappears after thirty days.

The 30-day limit only applies to paying users. But free users also have a little more time to download WeTransfer links. TechCrunch has already tried the feature with a free account and was able to download the files up to seven days after they were sent.

The Dutch WeTransfer recently fell into the Italian hands of Bending Spoons. The file-sending platform has 80 million active users, 600,000 of whom are paying.
