Apple plans to split its App Store division into two parts: One part of the staff will continue to manage the app store in its old form, while the other will deal with the alternative sites project that has begun to open in the European Union. This was reported by Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman.

In the wave of restructuring, the current vice president of the App Store, Matt Fischer (Matt Fischer), who has held this position for more than a decade, will leave Apple altogether. “I have been thinking about this for some time, and with the department reorganizing to better respond to new challenges and opportunities, now is the right time to pass the baton to two outstanding leaders on my team.”– Fisher said in a letter to employees.

The App Store division will now be overseen by Carson Oliver, while the company’s chief product officer, Ann Thai, will head the alternative distribution division. App Store head Phil Schiller will oversee both divisions. Apple was forced to create the new division after European regulators demanded the company allow alternative payment systems for its software products and stop blocking the launch of alternative app stores.

Last week, the mobile Epic Games Store, an iOS game store, launched in Europe, bringing Fortnite back to the platform. Other iPhone app stores have also opened in the region, including AltStore PAL, Mobivention and Aptoid.
