Update Chrome now: Google fixes ninth zero-day vulnerability this year

The vulnerability was discovered last month through a joint effort between the Threat Intelligence Center and the Microsoft Threat Response Center. However, specific technical details of the exploit have not been disclosed by either company. Both Google and Microsoft have emphasized the seriousness of the issue because it is actively being exploited.

Although Microsoft and Google are rivals, the two companies share a common interest in browser security. This is especially true because Microsoft Edge, like Chrome, is built on Google’s open-source Chromium project. As a result, vulnerabilities found in Chrome are likely to be found in other Chromium-based browsers as well.

In addition to the zero-day vulnerability, the latest Chrome update includes seven high-priority security patches and thirteen medium or low-priority patches.

To update Chrome, you need to go to “Settings” – “Help” – “About Google Chrome”, allow the update to download, and then restart the browser. The current version is 128.0.6613.84 for Windows and Linux, 128.0.6613.85 for Mac.
