Microsoft wants users to switch to Windows 11. After confirming that it is saying goodbye to versions 21H2 and 22H2, the company emphasized the importance of updating to version 22H3 to avoid security issues. However, there is a slightly contradictory scenario for Microsoft: devices with hardware incompatibility.

The Windows 11 requirements leave out some users with unsupported PCs. However, there are those who have managed to install Windows 11 on older hardware thanks to a command that allows them to bypass component verification during the installation process.

Microsoft already has plans to block this command and force users to replace their PCs if they want to update or settle for using a previous version.

This was an open secret. If the command was applied to the installation .exe file /productserver, the system recognized that the computer was a server and thus avoided the need for TPM 2.0. As of Windows 11 Insider Build 27686, this old trick no longer works.

Currently, the restriction only applies to this Insider version; it was already implemented in last year’s builds but has not yet reached the full version. Publications stable. Currently, 70% of users have the version of Windows 10 that Microsoft will stop supporting by October 2025.

It is only a matter of time before Microsoft brings this block to the stable versions and makes it impossible to update using this method. If we plan to update to Windows 11 and we have not done so yet, the solution is obvious: do not update our computer to any official version to avoid the block.
