The relationship between Meta and Apple has been quite strained for several years. Not as much as other industry giants, but enough to make some headlines, which peaked when those from Cupertino rolled out changes to iOS that made it easier for users to prevent the advanced tracking technology Facebook used up until then. The conflict was notorious and, as expected, its effects were strongly reflected in the social network’s numbers.

since Meta was looking for a way to intervene. but, unfortunately for Mark Zuckerberg, he hasn’t found a way to do it yet. Yes, he talked about Apple’s current affairs on more than one occasion, but generally it only served to project the image of a sullen person who is unsuccessfully trying to turn his resentment into one of the clues. that must drive the future of your company.

We started seeing one of the most recent examples of this last year when the folks at Cupertino introduced the Apple Vision Pro, and then It didn’t even take Zuckerberg a week to criticize the deviceusing to (ahem…) show off his chest in the Metaverse. Which didn’t stop us from knowing that Meta is already working on a device that will compete with Apple. Which is not to say that he already stated again at the beginning of this year that his proposal is better. 100% coherent speech, of course…

As you already know The Apple Vision Pro isn’t doing even remotely as expected commercially and required by Apple to the extent that the technology company would cancel its plans for the second generation and give absolute priority to the development of an “economy” version. A change of plans that sets up Tim Cook’s most personal project since taking over as the company’s chief executive.

And what does this have to do with Zuckerberg’s technology? Well, as we read in Hackaday, Meta canceled the project of its own device to compete with the Apple Vision Proa headset that would go on the market as part of the Quest Pro family, at a price of around $2,000, and which would also have a “little brother” from the start, which would therefore significantly expand its offer with regard to Apple devices.

Cancel this project seems like a pretty reasonable decisionHowever, given the tepid market response to the Apple Vision Pro, it wasn’t so tepid to embark on such a project while criticizing what it was meant to imitate.
