Soon, anyone will be able to use the AI generator Midjourney for free. Once the limit of 25 free images is reached, you will have to upgrade to a paid subscription.
David Holz, CEO of Midjourney, announced via Discord that AI image generator Midjourney will soon be free for everyone. From then on, users can sign up on the website to create AI-generated images without paying, but there is a limit. Free users get up to 25 free images, after which switching to a paid subscription is necessary to continue using the web tool. There are four different subscription formulas: Basic, Standard, Pro and Mega.
Midjourney originated in 2022 when it was integrated into Discord as a bot, but quickly evolved a year later into a website that allows users to generate images based on a written prompt. This website was previously accessible to users who generated more than ten thousand images on Discord.
With the announced changes, anyone could use Midjourney through the website. All you need to do is log in with a Discord or Google account. However, there are restrictions on use, allowing you to create a maximum of 25 images. After the limit is reached, you will need to switch to a paid subscription to continue using Midjourney.
If you want to switch to a paid subscription, you can choose from four different subscription formulas: Basic, Standard, Pro and Mega. The subscriptions have different criteria and price tags, you can find the overview here.
