Red Hat announced the general availability of Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift.

Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift make it easier for organizations to rethink their virtualization strategies and better scale, upgrade, and extend their cloud environments.

Large companies in particular often have to operate on enormous scales and are faced with increasingly complex infrastructures due to the transformations in the industries they serve. To work more effectively, they must build modern network infrastructures that can automatically scale to the edge, optimizing resources regardless of where the applications are located. This requires that the underlying infrastructures can support both traditional virtualized applications and modern cloud-native applications.

With Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift, companies can manage complexity to deliver both virtualized and cloud-native applications faster and easier, from core to edge. In addition to a significant acceleration, up to four times faster according to Red Hat, the new approach offers other benefits:

  • Accelerated time to market through integration with Ansible
  • A scalable OpenStack control panel that can manage Kubernetes-native pods on Red Hat OpenShift
  • Simplified second day processes for control panel and lifecycle management
  • Better cost control and flexibility in choosing external plug-ins and virtualization sources;
  • Improved control panel security and compliance monitoring, including encryption of communications and storage
  • Better insights into the health of hybrid cloud environments through Observation UI, Cluster Observation Operator and an OpenShift Cluster Log Operator
  • AI-optimized infrastructure with support for hardware acceleration technologies, ensuring efficient integration and use of specialized hardware for AI tasks

Support for telecommunications companies

Red Hat remains committed to OpenStack and is the largest contributor to the project and the product. OpenStack remains an important part of large IT infrastructures, particularly in the telecommunications sector, and this evolution can improve the way these organizations deploy, manage, and maintain OpenStack.

To help telcos achieve their goals, Red Hat provides expertise at every stage of the implementation process. Whether customers are new to OpenStack or migrating from a legacy system, Red Hat offers tailored training to quickly build technical expertise. Its consulting services help plan and execute projects in telcos’ unique environments, with a focus on minimizing operational risk. In addition, Red Hat technical account managers provide ongoing guidance and advice throughout the lifecycle of Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift, ensuring a smooth and secure deployment.
