Fortinet has enhanced its Unified SASE solution with sovereign SASE and generative AI capabilities. This solution integrates Fortinet’s secure SD-WAN and cloud-based Security Service Edge (SSE) into a single platform, seamlessly bringing together manageability, visibility, and security. With the latest updates, Fortinet aims to offer its customers a comprehensive and flexible SASE solution.

Extensive connectivity and security

Many SASE solutions are currently fragmented, with multiple management consoles and agents providing limited visibility and security. Fortinet offers a fully integrated SASE solution built on a single operating system, management console, endpoint agent, and data lake. This unified approach combines SD-WAN and SSE and provides all the core capabilities of SASE, including advanced AI integrations for management and monitoring. Fortinet Unified SASE also supports a variety of connectivity options such as access points and switches, and ensures consistent enforcement of security policies with Zero Trust, both on-premises and in the cloud.

Fortinet’s new sovereign SASE capability responds to customer demand for more data and cloud sovereignty options. Organizations in highly regulated industries such as finance, government, and healthcare can use this option to maintain local control over inspection and logging, ensuring robust data protection and regulatory compliance. Customers can determine how their data is routed and where security inspections take place, whether in a Fortinet data center, at a partner, or at the customer’s premises.

Integration of GenAI and improved operational efficiency

Fortinet is also introducing FortiAI for secure SD-WAN, using GenAI to support the entire SD-WAN infrastructure management process, simplifying and accelerating the deployment and management of SD-WAN solutions, from initial configuration to ongoing maintenance. GenAI integration provides visual and configuration support, advice, and troubleshooting, helping IT and cybersecurity teams work faster and more efficiently.

In addition, Fortinet continues to update its Unified SASE solution on a monthly basis. Recent updates include native Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) configuration, improved network performance for on-demand full mesh networks, and self-healing capabilities for SD-WAN networks. Support for System for Cross-Domain Identity Management (SCIM) has also been added, simplifying user and group management.
