General Motors is implementing “cost-cutting and efficiency-boosting” initiatives, as well as strengthening the leadership team of its new software division, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. General Motors hired former Apple executive Tim Tverdahl as vice president of product management.
During his stay here Apple Tim Tverdahl served as Vice President of Home and Audio Products and was responsible for the following products: AirPods And Apple TVHe later worked as a product director at Juno, a company that designs environmentally friendly buildings.
General Motors is drawing talent from Silicon Valley tech companies to support its push into software services, autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles. The automaker is hiring experts to better compete Tesla’s and Chinese automakers. General Motors plans to lay off more than 1,000 employees in its software division.
