Customers from Lockford, California, 4,000 inhabitants, where the pilot will continue, will be able to register for goods to be delivered to them by air.
The company promises drone deliveries will be made in less than an hour. Also, drones will be able to fly out of sight of humans, which means they’ll use their sensors to avoid other planes, people, pets, and other obstacles.
In 2013, Jeff Bezos, the former chairman and founder of Amazon, reportedly promised to fill the sky with a “fleet” of delivery drones for five years. And in 2019, Amazon said it would deliver packages by drone “within months.”
